What a Week. . .

I have just spent the whole day cleaning up my studio - and I do mean the whole day (with the exception of two trips to the store). It is the first day this week I have really gotten anything done. Sunday Gary and I both woke up not feeling so hot. But with in an hour or so He was REALLY SICK!!! I was only a little sick but stayed in bed (in the girls' room) all day except for when I was taking care of him. This all lasted until Wednesday - yuck! Then Thursday I spent the afternoon with Bryanna and the girls shopping. I bought myself some new art supplies I can't wait to play with! I had the big plan to play today but decided it was more important to clean up and to find room for my new toys. I was successful and hopefully this weekend I will get the time to play!

I hope you all had a GREAT week and got to enjoy a little creativity!

First MM Friday w/ Marta Class. . .

What a FUN day!!!! Today was the first class for my new once a month Friday mixed media classes. We all had a lot of fun and everyone completed their mouse trap. I just want to say a big, hearty THANK YOU to everyone that was there today!!! You really made my day!
Just about everyone that was in class today signed up for next month's MM Friday class. So we had to add another class already. That is pretty cool considering the sample has only been there a few hours. WOW, I am so honored.

Honestly Ladies, I really am honored - I am not just saying that. It makes my heart soar every time I fill a class. The idea that people find enough value in my art and my teaching that they would be willing to trade not only their money, but their time for something I have created. It truly is humbling and is such a blessing in my life. Thank you.

Okay enough sappy stuff - I hope you all have a FANTASTIC weekend and do something that really makes you joyful!

Another MM Friday w/ Marta Project. . .

I have been working on the second class sample for my new Friday classes at The Occasional Artist. These Friday afternoon classes are not long, not expensive and just for fun! A time to learn some new techniques, get a little dirty and just enjoy the process of creating something with your own two hands!
I hope you will join us for another MM Fridays w/ Marta project. You will make all 3 wooden blocks to decorate your home for the holidays. The blocks range in size from 8" to 3.5".

I love this Thanksgiving prayer on this middle block!
And who doesn't think this little pilgrim is adorable!

Lots of distressing and peeled paint on these - it's an easy but very useful technique to learn for all kinds of projects
And what a great hostess gift they would make if you dine elsewhere for Thanksgiving! I hope you will join in on the fun and get messy with us!

I have more detailed photos and description on this little BOO Trio in my Original Art For Sale tab.
I told you I would be getting some holiday art done.
I hope you all had a FANTASTIC weekend!!!!

I'm Excited To Share. . .

I have decided to start selling some of my artwork here on my blog.
I have been encouraged by several people to start selling some of my artwork. I have been mulling it over and just wasn't sure. I had a lot of doubts as to whether or not anyone would really be interested in "my art". But like I said, after be encouraged to give it a try I have decided what the heck! So tonight I have added a new tab to the top of my blog and another one on the right sidebar called "Original Art For Sale". I hope you will take a moment to peek and to leave me any feedback you have. Of course I also hope there will be something there that you might like to purchase as well!

The 5 different pieces I have put up for sale are all pieces that are meant to encourage you. They are for the most part scriptural in nature. But no matter what your belief system is I think the messages on these pieces are encouraging and relevant to us all. I will be adding more pieces soon, probably some holiday art to go along with the scriptures.

All of the info on the sizes, materials etc are posted with each piece as well as the title and price. But feel free to shoot me an email if you have any other questions on any of them.

I want to thank all of you that pushed encouraged me to give this a try!

Saying Good-Bye

Today we had to make the decision to put our 11 year old basset hound, Patty down. It was time, but it is never easy. Sadly I think the one having the hardest time with this is our other dog, Zsa Zsa who just sits at the back door (that is the door I left with Patty this morning) and cries for him. Zsa Zsa is only 7 and has never been an "only dog". So it  is a bit melancholy around here today. Bryanna brought Zsa Zsa's brother (they adopted him at the same time we got her) over for her to play with today. That helped get her away from the door for a while. I think I will go take a nap and just relax for a bit now.
