Fresh Flowers

Okay my new facination is making paper flowers! They are just so fun and the possibilities are endless! I am basically cheap at heart and a little impaitient too. So I hate paying the high cost of Primas so I rarely use flowers on my projects. I also do most of my creating in the middle of the night when stores are closed. So even if I wasn't cheap I wouldn't be able to run right out and get the perfect posie for my project. And NO, I could not wait til the next day to go get one - I would need it NOW! This has led me to figure out how to make my own. It has been a lot of fun and is a great way to use up scrap paper that I save "just in case".

Tonight I am teaching an altered canvas class, and as I was packing up my class bag I was trying to decide what I should take as this evening's door prize (I always give a door prize at my classes). That's when it hit me, I could make up some flowers to give away. Here they are. . .

I made all 6 flowers out of one sheet of cream cardstock. I cut the flowers using my Cricut in 4 different sizes, then ran each one trough my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder. Next I inked them all up, curled the edges with a bamboo skewer and assembled them. I also cut out some leaves, embossed them with a swirly folder and of course inked them up too. I hope whoever wins them will enjoy them.
Have a great weekend Friends!

A Much Better Day

No rain, no clouds, no sinus headache today - all of this makes for a great day in my book! Mom kept Monkey at her house today so I could concentrate on a time sensative project. Gary's Aunt died recently and they wanted me to put together a memorial collage like I did for his Dad when he passed. I decided against a traditional collage just because of the time. Instead I did one in PSE. I am happy to say I got it all finished today. I even got it all printed and framed too! So this is the collage I made - it was printed at 16x20 and it has a nice poem on it. I hope Gary's Uncle will like the finished product. Projects like this are always so hard because you want to get them "just right" and you are deffinately working against the clock!

Doing this project just re-enforced my desire to get some digital kits. I have been thinking about buying some for over a year now but just haven't done it. A friend had given me this kit, it doesn't have a lot in it but I was able to add the parchment background, the text box, flowers and the little swirls. If you aren't familar with digital kits here a couple of websites that I look at for these items

Well, I hope you all had a great day.

Rainy Days & MONDAYS. . .

you know the rest of the lyrics.
Just call me Oscar. . .Oscar the Grouch that is! Today is the 1st day in I don't know when that I have been truly grouchey!!!! I am hating it too. I am sure it is due to this stupid weather. I know that is why my head hurts so bad. Well, that is really all I have to say today. I have much to get done but I think I will go lay on the couch while Monkey naps and see if I can't change my attitude some. I hope you all are having a better Monday!

I am sick of the rain!

I know we need it and I love seeing the desert floor turning green, and I can't wait for the wild flowers to cover the mountains at the lake, but. . .
I HATE THE RAIN!!!
Rainy days make me feel all gloomy and restless. Seems I never get anything accomplished on days like this. I can't focus and wander from project to project.
Well I guess I will stop complaining about it and try to get some things done before my Monkey shows up. Her Mom & Dad are going out this evening and we will be having a slumber party here tonight!
I hope you all have a great weekend and stay warm & dry!

I need a donut!!!!!

Not one you eat - one you sit on!!!! My butt is killing me. If you know me, you know I never just "sit" and this weekend that is all I did. I was lucky enough to get to attend Nikon University this weekend (Christmas gift from my Mommy) and it was from 9:30am - 4:30pm Sat & Sun. OMGoodness I thought I would die. Although I really enjoyed the class I wish part of it would have been standing up. But I was so jazzed by the classes that today I gave myself a treat. I registered for a photography mentoring trip!!! I can't wait. If you click on the link you can read all about it. We will be going to southern Calif to all of the places I love to go when I visit there. . .
Coronado Island
Scripps
LaJolla
Balboa Park
Point Loma and more
Doesn't that sound like fun? I have wanted to do one of these trips for several years now and I just decided there was no time like the present to do it. We are gonna learn all kinds of stuff about lighting, night photography, action shots and tons more. I hope I will have some great pictures to share with you when I get back.
I am also taking a class at the store tomorrow night - I haven't gotten to take a book class in so long, I am really looking forward to that as well. Hopefully I feel like sitting by tomorrow!
Hope you all had a great weekend too!

Busy with my Monkey, busy hanging out with my best friend Gary (we are addicted to Yatzee & Backgammon these days), busy prepping and teaching my 1st class of 2010 and yes, BUSY in my studio designing some new projects for classes this year. It has been a good kind of busy and I have really been enjoying myself! Below you will see a peek at 3 new projects and classes that are coming up. If you want to see more details on any of the projects just cleck on the photo or read the class descriptions located on the right under "Classes"

This 1st one is called "Love Notes" If you love Graphic 45 papers as much as I do you will love this one! I have used the new line of papers called Le Romantic.
Next is "Fairytale Accordion Album" Can you believe I'm doing PINK!!! Never fear, plenty of black in there too!
This one is "Family Photo Blocks". How cool would this look in your house! Well, with your family pictures not mine! lol
